Odd Jobs I Found on TikTok

Jen “Odd” Glantz here! I’m going to be super honest with you. I spend sooooo much time on TikTok but I don’t feel bad about that. Sure, some videos I watch are silly dance videos without any point. But other videos are life changing.

Seriously.

I’ve learned so much on TikTok…from how to make Chia seed water to how to create a budget that I actually stick to.

As someone who has an odd job, I also come across so many people who are also working weird gigs.

That’s what I’m sharing with you today! Scroll to find out the oddest jobs I found on TikTok.

Odd Jobs I Saw on TikTok

The Professional Mermaid

Think this gig sounds unreal? This women has made it her full-time gig, working as a mermaid for hotel shows and collaborating with big brands. She has a million followers on TikTok, which means she’s also making some good cash just by creating content on the platform (through brand deals and affiliate links). She says being a mermaid is a good source of income, but it costs a lot to get started. The mermaid tail she wears is a $10k investment.

Prop Builder

Being a prop builder might sound like a boring job:

Prop Makers work in the properties departments of feature films, making any props that are not being bought in, or hired. Prop Makers use a wide variety of materials, techniques and tools, to design and create the required props.

But for Frank Pillar, it’s become an opportunity to make way more money than he thought. While the average salary of a prop builder can range from $20K-$70k, Frank has showcased the behind the scenes of his gig on TikTok (to a million followers) and earned extra cash from his content, ads, and courses.

Luxury Picnic Planner

During the pandemic, an odd job that became even more popular was luxury picnic planning. People would pay hundreds, or thousands, for you to set up these outdoor picnic in cool locations with an Instagramable feel. This TikToker shows the behind the scenes of that life here.

Life of a Truck Driver

While you might not think being a truck driver is an odd gig, I have always been fascinated with how people do this job. That’s why I’m obsessed with this TikTok where the creator breaks down what his life is like as a truck driver around the US.
