A lot of my friends right now are looking for new jobs. I often hear them vent about how awful the application process is. Even if you send out a ton of resumes and cover letters to companies, you might not hear back or land an interview.
Finding a new job is tough and competitive.
This book helps you figure out how to use your network to land a job.
But if you’re looking for more ways, why not try some odd ball ones?

Odd Ways to Land a New Job
Host a "Job-Themed" Dinner Party: Organize a dinner for friends and friends of friends. Try to invite people in a similar industry to the one you’re trying to get a job in. You never know who knows what and doing this can help you expand your network in a fun way. This book is epic for helping you do that.
Volunteer Your Skills: Offer your services for free to a company or organization you're interested in. This can demonstrate your dedication, skills, and work ethic, potentially leading to a job offer. My mentor (James Altucher) used to email companies 10 ideas for how they can improve a part of their business - like their website or social media - and he landed gigs that way. You can do this in a classy way - not in “i’m better than you way”.
Tattoo Your Skills or Portfolio: Consider getting a temporary tattoo that showcases your skills, achievements, or portfolio. Attend networking events or job fairs where you can display your "tattooed" credentials and start conversations. This idea is out there —- I know — but that’s the point of this newsletter, my friend!
Participate in Hackathons or Competitions: Showcase your skills by participating in relevant hackathons, coding challenges, or other competitions related to your field. Winning or demonstrating excellence can grab the attention of potential employers. Look up when these are and sign up if they apply to the industry or job you’re looking for.
Create a Video Resume or Pitch: Record a short video introducing yourself, your skills, and why you're the perfect fit for a particular job. Share this on platforms like LinkedIn or directly with potential employers to present yourself in a more dynamic and engaging way. This is what I’d do if I was applying for a job in 2023.
Utilize Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR): Create an interactive AR or VR resume or portfolio that employers can access through a mobile app. This innovative approach can leave a lasting impression and demonstrate your tech-savvy nature. I personally wouldn’t know how to do this but if you want to do this you can find someone to hire to help you on Upwork.
Set Up a Street Booth or Stall: Similar to a pop-up booth, set up a stall in a high-traffic area where you display your resume, skills, and achievements in an eye-catching manner. Engage with passersby and potential employers who may be intrigued by your approach. This is intense too but hey, it could work!
Develop a Podcast or Vlog Series: Start a podcast or vlog series discussing topics related to your industry. Invite guest speakers and showcase your expertise. This can help you build a network and catch the attention of employers seeking individuals with your knowledge. This is also something I’d do in 2023 to help me get a job.
