Jen “Odd” Glantz here! Everyone I know went bonkers last week over the $1.34 billion Mega Millions jackpot.

…and I forgot to buy a ticket (shaking my head).

The person who ended up winning the grand prize was from Illinois and will likely stay anonymous.

But it made me think:

Is there anyway to increase your odds so that you can win a major payday?

Now, for legal reasons, I guess I should say I don’t promote gambling or buying lotto tickets. But I do want to share this info. in case you are curious or like the oddness of the lottery.

Okay, now that we got that out of the way, let’s get into the good stuff.

Ps. know someone who would adore this newsletter?

Odd Ways to Increase Your Chances of Winning the Lottery

You can win the lottery by being super rich

For the Powerball lottery, there are 69 possible numbers for the white balls and 26 possible results for the Powerball. The odds of picking that perfect combination with a single ticket are one in 292,201,338. The cost per ticket is $2. You can buy all the possible combinations of tickets for $584,402,676 — just under $585 million.

Is this a good idea? I’d say no. Because even if you do this, you’re still not guaranteed as there could be other winners, etc. and that might pull away from your grand jackpot.

More about these kind of odds here.

Tips from a 7x Lottery Winner

There are other ways to increase your odds of winning that don’t require you to spend a fortune. A lotto winner, who has won 7x in 2-years, has a bunch of tips for you.

  1. Form a lottery syndicate where you gather money from lottery players.

  2. Don’t choose consecutive numbers.

  3. Don’t choose a number that falls in the same number group or ending with a similar digit.

  4. Look for more unpopular games played at odd times.

  5. Better if you will play less popular lottery games with fewer players, so you will have less competition.

  6. Some people tend to play lotto based from the numbers of their birthday, or the birthday of a family member.

These tips and more all explained right here.

A Harvard Professor’s Advice

In fact, there is only one proven way of boosting your chances to win the lottery, according to Harvard statistics professor Dr. Mark Glickman.

Here’s what he had to say.

Today’s newsletter is sponsored by: Clay

Today’s newsletter is brought to you by Clay, a beautiful and private digital rolodex intentionally designed to help you be more thoughtful with the people who matter to you.

Before I started using Clay, being thoughtful and remembering important details about the people in my life relied on my own memory, as well as a mix of spreadsheets, notecards, contacts apps, and CRMs. In addition to being difficult to manage, this approach lets important relationships, moments, and context fall through the cracks.

But when you log onto Clay, you enter your very own personalized home for the people that matter to you, empowering you to remember important moments and information. Clay uses your calendar, email, iMessage, Twitter, phone contacts, and LinkedIn to create one source of truth for your relationships. Take notes, set reminders, get notified when people are in the news, and more.

I use Clay not only to foster relationships with friends and acquaintances but also to show up prepared for so many different business situations, whether it’s to be prepared for a meeting, to search my network to find a mentor, or to stay on top of important details about the important people in my life.

Try Clay today. You’ll love it!
